Welcome to the London Schools Hydrogen Challenge website

As chairperson of the London Hydrogen Partnership, it was my pleasure to launch the London Schools Hydrogen Challenge in September 2007.

The Challenge is an interactive educational science programme for 11 to 14 year old school children, which runs annually across all 33 London boroughs. The Challenge aims to introduce students to cleaner energy, and specifically hydrogen technologies and their applications. Tackling climate change is a top priority in London and these clean technologies can help to reduce climate change.

The Challenge, which runs for the length of the school year from September to the following June, provides schools with a range of online teaching resources that support the National Curriculum for Key Stage 3. In addition, students from schools that register for the Challenge can take part in the Challenge Quiz, which gives them the opportunity to put their knowledge to the test and enter the draw for a place in the Grand Final, where they can win a range of high-tech prizes, along with a top prize of £1,000 for their school.

Registration for the 2007/2008 Challenge has now closed, however teachers and students can continue to use the online lessons.

As a London teacher you are critical to the success of the Challenge. If you have not already done so, I urge you to get involved in the London Schools Hydrogen Challenge and work with us to promote an understanding of clean energy to our future generations.
